PABT Guest Speaker Series
PABT is proud to announce our Guest Speaker Series!
Our first guest speaker is Scott A. Mitchell, PhD.
"Buddhism in the Bay Area is amazingly diverse--why so? Of particular interest is the confluence of "beats" (artists and thinkers) and long-established American Buddhist communities in mid-century. How does history help us to understand the complexity that confronts American Buddhists and Buddhist America today? The rise of intolerance for pluralism in America makes this exploration a timely one."
Dr. Mitchell is the author of Buddhism in America - Global Religion, Local Context. He holds the Yoshitaka Tamai Professorial Chair at the Institute of Buddhist Studies in Berkeley.
This free lecture is of interest to: General Public, students of religion, inter-faith groups, Buddhists in America
