Ireichō @ PABT

We are excited to announce the Ireicho national tour is coming to Palo Alto Buddhist Temple June 5-7, 2025!

Ireicho, the Book of Names, contains the names of the 125,284 Japanese Americans who were incarcerated during World War II.

By appointment only, visitors are invited to honor individuals who were incarcerated by using a hanko to stamp a blue mark next to names on pages of the Ireicho.

The Ireicho monument is named after the Japanese term for “consoling the

spirits.” The Ireicho national tour began on the Day of Remembrance at the

National Archives and Smithsonian National Museum and will continue

through 2026.

  • The Ireicho will be available at Palo Alto Buddhist Temple only by appointment, June 5, 6 and 7, 2025.

  • To request an Ireicho appointment, please apply online at https://ireizo.org/tour/
